Getting here and around
Hertfordshire is one of the best connected counties in England.
One of the easiest ways to arrive from the continent is taking a P&O ferry from Calais to Dover or the Eurotunnel from Calais to Folkestone, and driving north to Hertfordshire. There are alternative routes such as from the Hoek van Holland into Essex also available.
Being on a border with Greater London, you can get from central London to Hertfordshire in 20 minutes by train. If you are travelling by road, Hertfordshire can be reached by using the M25 and many other major roads such as the A10, A414, A41 and the famous A1 which is the longest road in the UK. Being north of the M25, both London Stansted and London Luton are the closest airports, and are on their respective borders with Hertfordshire offering air links to Europe and beyond.
