The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop

The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop is the only place to purchase an original Bakewell Pudding.

This local creation is formed of a puff pastry base with a layer of sweet strawberry jam, topped with a set mixture of eggs and almond.

It is as popular now as it was when it was created in the 1800s and we still keep the recipe a secret. Our Puddings are made by hand at our Bakewell Bakery, just a stone’s throw away, and are the recipient of a Great Taste award.

Our Original Bakewell Tarts are also a bestseller and come in a variety of sizes with either flaked almond or icing toppings.

We also sell a variety of handmade pies, pastries, cakes and artisan breads, which are also freshly made at the Bakewell Bakery every day.

Visitors can also peruse our Aladdin’s cave for beers, wines, cheeses, jams, chutneys and gifts.

Our 80-seater restaurant serves quality fare from light bites to afternoon teas and roast dinners using locally sourced produce, while our outdoor courtyard provides an al fresco dining option during the warmer months.
